Cobalt Housing invests £5m in North Liverpool

Cobalt Housing has completed building work on 62 flats and houses on Landford Avenue in Sparrow Hall, with all the properties taken at affordable rent.

Construction of the two-bedroom houses and one- and two-bedroom flats has seen more than £4m invested, including funding from the Homes & Communities Agency.

The housing association has also refurbished five homes which stood empty for more than two years on Stonedale Crescent in nearby Croxteth.

The four-bedroom houses which were once a target for anti-social behaviour have had new kitchens, heating, roofing and other improvements carried out.

The work in Sparrow Hall and Croxteth was completed by contractor A Connolly.

A further £400,000 is being spent by Cobalt on roofs, pathways and walls at around 50 other homes in Stonedale.

Alan Rogers, managing director of Cobalt Housing, said: "Between the new homes at Sparrow Hall and the improvements we've carried out in Stonedale, more than £5m is being invested in improving these neighbourhoods, which is great for this part of Liverpool.

"Not only does it mean more affordable homes for people who need them, but it's also contributing to the local economy and supporting jobs."

Cobalt Housing provides more than 6,000 homes in the Norris Green, Croxteth and Fazakerley areas, and was created 10 years ago with the transfer of properties from Liverpool City Council.

It is part of Symphony Housing Group, whose member organisations own and manage more than 40,000 homes in the North West.
