ClwydAlyn plots redevelopment of Polish village
The Welsh housing association is progressing plans to demolish Penrhos Polish Village in Pwllheli and deliver 112 affordable homes on the site.
Working with Lovelock Mitchell Architects and Cadnant Planning, ClwydAlyn has launched a consultation on its proposals for the Llyn Peninsula site.
The scheme would see the demolition of the majority of buildings that make up the Polish village.
The community was established in the late 1940s by Polish Housing Society to accommodate Polish servicemen and women who remained in the UK after the Second World War.
As well as homes, the site currently features a church, library, a large communal dining hall, a shop and allotments.
Under Clwyd’s plans for the site, the 103 residential units, a mix of bungalows, bedsits and flats, would be demolished. The homes are in poor condition, according to Cadnant.
A 43-bedroom nursing home would also be knocked down to pave the way for the construction of new 112 homes, all of which would be affordable. The units would provide a mix of apartments and bungalows across the 25-acre site.
The existing canteen, chapel, memorial garden and allotments would be retained.
The Polish Housing Society and the Penrhos Polish Village transferred to ClywdAlyn as part of a merger arrangement in 2020.
That sounds wonderful, Hopefully it want take 10 years to accomplish the project as we all know we are not getting any younger !!
