Cityside lodges plans for 88 Wilmslow homes

Following a consultation on the proposals this summer, the developer has now formalised its intention to develop 10 acres of Cheshire East’s Green Belt into a residential community featuring a shared meadow and an orchard.

Designed by Ollier Smurthwaite Architects, Cityside’s 88-home Wilmslow scheme is “farmstead-inspired” and would be built north of Moor Lane on land around Yates Grove that the developer is confident meets the criteria for Grey Belt.

In line with the government’s ‘golden rules’ for Grey belt development, Cityside’s proposals feature 45% affordable housing.

The mix of homes on offer includes cottages, terraces, and barn-style properties, according to Daniel Cohen, co-founder of Cityside.

“Through detailed design work and consultation, we have developed a landscape-led scheme we believe is right for this part of Wilmslow,” he said.

“Engagement with local groups and the community has helped shape the design at every stage, from the mix of cottages, terraces, barn-style and family homes to the shared meadow, orchard and garden space running through the site.

“With 45% affordable housing, this is a genuinely mixed community that addresses a real shortage of housing options for local people.”

The application has not yet been validated by Cheshire East Council.

Re-form Landscape Architecture has prepared the landscape strategy, while Asteer Planning is advising Cityside on the submission.
