Cheshire/Warrington LEP reveals board members
Fourteen people have been made members of the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership board.
Warrington Council said almost 100 applications were received for the eleven positions which were drawn from the private, education and voluntary sectors.
The successful applicants for the private sector are:
- Martin Ashcroft – Brunner Mond
- Robert Davies – EA Technology
- Christine Gaskell – Bentley Motors
- Howard Hopwood – Harman Technology
- Louise Morrissey – Peel Holdings
- Graham Ramsbottom – Grosvenor Estate
- Nigel Schofield – Northenden Travel Group
- Pete Waterman – Pete Waterman Entertainments
Successful applicants in the education and voluntary sectors are:
- Tim Wheeler – Higher education
- Sara Mogel – Further education
- Alison Roylance-White – voluntary
In addition to these posts the leaders of Warrington Council, Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester Councils will become ex-officio members.
Cllr Ian Marks, board member and leader of Warrington Council, said: "We were delighted with the huge number of applications received. I know the people appointed will make an excellent team and we are fortunate to have such a good mix of people from different sectors, many of them with a Warrington connection.
"The first task of the new board is to elect a chairman and then we must continue to promote Cheshire and Warrington as an outstanding place to do business. We are already a successful economy but we can do more to create jobs and prosperity and help rebuild the national economy."
The Department for Business Innovation and Skills approved four local enterprise bids in the North West at the end of last year.
As well as the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership, there are LEPs in Cumbria, Greater Manchester, and Liverpool City Region.
The 24 LEPs in England aim to bring together the public and private sectors to create sustainable economic growth.
