Cheshire Fresh lines up Crewe housing
Along with up to 2,100 homes, Weavers Green could include up to 65,500 sq ft of employment space and local centre facilities.
Cheshire Fresh, headed by ex-Pochin directors Bob and Jim Nicholson, has launched a round of consultation ahead of submitting plans. The team includes planner Spawforths as planner and architect and Lexington on engagement.
Weavers Green would also include community facilities, provision for a new primary school and green infrastructure.
The scheme is to the west of Middlewich Road and Leighton Hospital – the proposed site for new hospital space is also shown on the illustrative site overview – as well as being close to Bentley Motors and key transport links. Access would come from two points off Middlewich Road.
The developer believes the scheme has the scale to play an important role in meeting Crewe’s long-term housing needs, at a time when Cheshire East Council is struggling to establish a housing supply pipeline satisfactory to government.
Cheshire Fresh said that the development will feature riverside parkland along the River Weaver, green corridors, enhanced habitats and sustainable drainage systems.
Bob Nicholson, director at Cheshire Fresh Ltd, said: “We are pleased to be launching this consultation and inviting local people to share their views on our emerging proposals for Weavers Green. Our aim is to deliver more than just new homes.
“We want to create a well‑designed, well‑connected neighbourhood that supports local jobs, protects the environment and brings lasting benefits to Crewe.
“By bringing forward a site that is available now, deliverable and capable of meeting the area’s clear need for new housing and employment space, Weavers Green represents a real opportunity to help Crewe grow in a sustainable and coordinated way.
“By engaging and listening carefully to feedback, we can ensure the planning application reflects local priorities and delivers a neighbourhood that makes a positive contribution to Crewe’s future.”
The consultation will remain open until 6 April 2026.
