Cheshire East still recruiting for planning boss
The creation of two new unitary authorities for east and west Cheshire has officially been launched today with Cheshire East yet to appoint a head of planning.
A spokesperson for Cheshire East said: "We will be making the announcement on his or her appointment on our website when it happens."
Andy Farrow, formerly responsible for environmental planning at Cheshire County Council, was appointed to the Cheshire East role in December. He has since left the position.
Cheshire East is replacing Congleton, Crewe and Nantwich, Macclesfield and Cheshire County Council.
The new Cheshire councils are part of the biggest national shake-up of local government for 30 years, with 44 councils across 7 counties being replaced.
Cheshire West & Chester will replace the remainder of Cheshire and Vale Royal, Ellesmere Port & Neston and Chester.
The planning department at Cheshire West & Chester is controlled by its senior development control manager Mark Lynch and head of development management Chris Hindle, with Alan Slater, who joins from Stoke, running the strategic housing and spatial planning department.
Slater is responsible for Cheshire West & Chester council's local development framework, overseeing affordable housing, empty properties, private sector housing, and planning housing strategies within the district.
