Cheshire East set to reject 270 homes
Two residential schemes from Redrow Homes and Gladman Developments have been recommended for refusal by officers ahead of Cheshire East Council’s planning committee meeting on Wednesday 1 July.
A joint venture between Redrow and Anwyl Homes has submitted a reserved matters application for the construction of 154 two-storey detached, semi-detached and mews properties, on land south of Middlewich Road in Sandbach.
According to a report to the council, the scheme “is unacceptable in planning terms” and should be refused as it does not include an appropriate buffer between the development and neighbouring properties on Park Lane.
The application was submitted by Astle Planning & Design.
Meanwhile, a scheme by Gladman Developments which proposes 119 homes, including 30% affordable housing, on a 17-acre site off Main Road in Goostrey has also been recommended for refusal.
The site is in open countryside, but according to planning officers a development would also affect the workings of the nearby Jodrell Bank telescope.
A report ahead of the council’s meeting on Wednesday said that the Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government had received a request to intervene on the application from a third party. The council committee can decide on the proposal, but its decision cannot be issued until the Secretary of State releases his views.
