Cheadle Heath industrial park to start on site in spring
Stockport Council has granted planning consent to a detailed application for the development of a £10m 18-acre industrial estate at the former Gorsey Bank site, which has been rebranded as Aurora Stockport.
The development will total 154,500 sq ft of industrial space, in units ranging from 8,700 sq ft to 47,000 sq ft.
Outline planning permission was granted at the beginning of 2015. Construction is due to start in spring 2016 with the first units being available from early 2017.
Contractor-developer Carillion, HOW Planning and Aecom, transport and highways advisor, are advising on the development. CBRE is the appointed agent.
Aurora Stockport is part of the Council’s Investing in Stockport programme that will see a range of growth projects delivered across Stockport. The growth work will see £900m invested into Stockport over the coming years by the Council and its partners.
Cllr Patrick McAuley, executive member for thriving economy at Stockport Council, said: “I am so pleased that planning permission has been granted for Aurora Stockport. I regularly speak to companies who are looking for quality industrial space in our town, this development sees us taking a proactive step in providing this and will bring with it new jobs and opportunities for residents.”
