Chancerygate, CBRE IM lodge Salford stadium shed plan

A joint venture between the two parties has submitted a proposal for 100,000 sq ft of industrial space next to the ground where Sale Sharks and Salford Red Devils play their home fixtures.

The application to develop the 11-acre site comes more than two years after Chancerygate and Salford City Council failed to agree terms on the proposed sale of the same plot.

CosCos, the joint venture between the city council and Peel, had been in talks with Chancerygate about the sale but it did not materialise. Since then, the council has taken full control of the stadium and surrounding land and Chancerygate has seemingly come back to the table, accompanied by CBRE IM, to do a deal.

Located north west of the stadium and bound by Salteye Brook, the land is being primed for two blocks featuring nine units in total.

Hourigan Planning is advising on planning matters and Horizon Fletcher Rae is leading on design. Urban Green is advising on ecology.

The scheme would be the first phase of industrial development around the stadium. Last year, Cole Waterhouse pulled out of plans to deliver 300,000 sq ft of shed space on another site close to the ground.

The land around the 15,000-seater stadium forms part of the Western Gateway growth zone, which includes Port Salford and is the subject of plans to establish a Mayoral Development Corporation to ramp up delivery.

@Dan. Capacity of Salford’s stadium is currently 12,000 and some of that is standing terraces. It does have provision to increase the capacity to 15,000 though.
