CECA names J Murphy buyer as lead for new civil engineers
Alice Crowley of J Murphy & Sons is the new vice chair of CECA NW Foundations, the group established by the Civil Engineering Contractors’ Association NW for people new to the civil engineering sector.
Crowley, from Southport, is based at the company’s Stonecross office, and graduated in 2015 from University of Liverpool in business studies, specialising in supply chain management.
A graduate buyer within the company, she has been with Murphy since 2015, and is currently working as a subcontract buyer within its natural resources team.
Crowley replaces Daniel Boothy of Bolton-based George Cox & Sons, who is now chair of CECA NW Foundations.
Crowley said the role “is all about improving the image of the industry to attract more people to work in civil engineering.” She continued: “CECA NW is the first region to establish a Foundations group, and we are planning a series of events that combine networking with presentations on the key issues affecting the industry.”
CECA North West member companies have an estimated turnover of £2.2bn and employ approximately 19,200 people in the region.
CECA NW Foundations meetings are open to all, not just members of the Civil Engineering Contractors’ Association. Interested parties should contact Guy Lawson for details: tel 07703 585027; email: guy.lawson@cecanw.co.uk
