Carnforth Porsche showroom completes
Main contractor Caddick Construction has finished the £5m project off Junction 35 of the M6, which also includes workshops, offices and an MOT testing facility.
Porsche franchise holder Parker & Parker appointed Caddick to design and build the 17,400 sq ft sales and maintenance centre in Carnforth last June, and construction was due to complete by this summer.
The centre, based at the Portsche Centre South Lakes site north of Kellet Road in Lancashire, will serve the automaker’s Cumbria and North Lancashire operations, providing a showroom for the full range of Porsche cars, including the 911, 718, Taycan, Panamera, Cayenne and Macan.
The site also features a handover lounge, meeting rooms and employee facilities, and has been named Electric Drive, chosen “to mirror Porsche’s public commitment to building all-electric cars”, the company said.
“The centre looks amazing – both the interior fit-out and external facade,” added Ian Parker, director of Porsche Centre South Lakes. “We are now working towards our official opening in July so we can really showcase the fitting new home of Porsche for Cumbria and North Lancashire.”
And Caddick’s North West managing director Ian Threadgold said: “This has been an exciting and very rewarding contract to be involved with. Porsche is one of the most desirable and respected brands in the world and we are delighted to be able to deliver an exceptional dealership and showroom in a such a stunning location.”
The architect and principal designer for the project was Axis 3 Design and Cumbrian-based R G Parkins & Partners provided the structural engineering services.
