Capital & Centric plan Salford digital campus
Capital & Centric has submitted a planning application for a speculative 40,000 sq ft office park opposite Ordsall Hall in Ordsall Lane, Salford.
The Manchester-based developer is seeking permission for up to 12 units along with a new 30-metre wide public boulevard linking the River Irwell to the grade 1-listed Ordsall Hall and a water taxi mooring to enhance access to the hall from boats using the river. The development site is a cleared, brownfield plot covering five acres. AEW is the appointed architect for the scheme.
Adam Higgins, director of Capital & Centric, said: "We're going to build this on a speculative basis, which is what we've become known for over the past couple of years. The Soapworks and Media City UK are now really transforming this area and we'll be able to house businesses in the media and technology sectors that simply can't find the right space in the area at the moment.
"Contemporary design is the key here and we'll be providing space that really works for the new generation of digital and media companies that are now basing themselves in Salford and Manchester."
The development will include extensive renewable energy facilities and aim to achieve BREEAM 'excellent'.
Pending planning approval, work would start on site this year.
Looks nice, and the public boulevard is a great but will anyone use the water taxi, think not!
