Caddick recruits managing director from Wates

Paul Dodsworth will take over the leadership role at the construction company from Adrian Dobson, who is retiring after 23 years with the business.

Dodsworth has more than 40 years of experience in construction and was most recently the regional managing director for the North at Wates. Dave Saville has since been promoted to that position.

Dodsworth will begin his role at Caddick Construction in August. As managing director, he will lead the company as it expands its regions of operation. The business already has offices in Warrington, Kendal, and Knottingley.

Dodsworth said he was “looking forward to being part of the Caddick team”.

“I’m particularly excited by the opportunities currently being presented in both the residential and logistic markets,” he said.

“I was immensely proud to be asked to join Caddick Construction, a very well-established, respected and financially strong business,” he continued. “The aspirations of the business to expand its geographical footprint, whilst further developing the existing regions, is a challenge I will embrace and drive.”

Andrew Murray, executive chairman of Caddick Construction said he was pleased with Dodsworth’s hire.

“We are delighted that Paul is stepping into this exciting role to lead all of our construction businesses,” Murray said. “His hands-on approach will strengthen the business and we all look forward to working with him.”

Murray also took time to pay tribute to the retiring Dobson.

“Adrian has been a key member of our board, helping to guide the strong growth of the company to become one of the leading and largest independent contractors in the North of England,” Murray said.

“He will be sadly missed but we wish him well in his retirement and thank him for his massive contribution since joining us in 1999.”

Caddick Construction is part of Yorkshire-based Caddick Group, which also has companies that focus on development, design, civil engineering and property management.

Caddick Group chairman, Paul Caddick, echoed Murray’s sentiments on Dodsworth’s hire.

“Paul [Dodsworth] has the passion and character to take on the formidable challenges the market currently presents,” Caddick said. “His experience and ability will drive our aspiration for continued growth as a sustainable forward-thinking business.”

Recent Caddick Construction projects in the North West include Bruntwood SciTech’s £21m Base Building at Manchester Science Park, a £16.3m flexible warehouse at Birchwood Park, and an £11.4m apartment block in Salford.
