BWB relocates in Manchester

Design engineering practice BWB Consulting is pushing forward with a recruitment drive after relocating to Aviva’s 11 Portland Street in the city centre.

Taking around 3,600 sq ft, the company is moving from its existing base on Dale Street in the Northern Quarter after reporting significant growth across its core civil and structural engineering business.

The group has also added a series of new disciplines in recent years including environmental planning consultancy, geo-technical engineering, and air quality and acoustics.

BWB said it was now looking to recruit “across all disciplines” following the move; 30 staff are relocating to 11 Portland Street. The group is headquartered in Nottingham, and also has offices in Birmingham, Leeds, London, and Northampton.

As well as its core disciplines, BWB also operates a proptech start-up named Deetu.

Warren Bennett, who leads the company’s Manchester team, said: “We were literally bursting out of the skylights in our old offices, and we want a more prominent presence that reflects both our position in the market and our commitment to Manchester and the North West.

“We’re working on some significant projects for major clients and we need to both grow the team and provide an environment that attracts and retains top talent, while sending out the right signals about our ambitions for greater success.”

Projects the consultant is working on include Peel’s Trafford Waters, and the design of the A49 dual carriageway in Wigan. The company was bought by transport engineering giant CAF Group in 2017.
