Bury New Road plot hits market
Planning permission for the 1.65-acre Manchester site has been previously granted for a hotel, car showroom, and a storage warehouse – but it also has potential for residential development, according to agent Hindley Lawrence.
The freehold of 118 Bury New Road is now up for sale for an undisclosed guide price. It sits just south of the Fairy Lane and Bury New Road junction, with access from each of those roads.
Previously, the site contained a row of terraced houses. These have since been demolished and the site now contains mostly shrubs.
It is situated on a major thoroughfare in Manchester and in close proximity to Halfords, Ready Steady Store, and Grosvenor Casino.
The most recent planning adventure for the site was a proposal for 136 apartments from clothing retailer BOI Trading I 2022. That application was rejected by Manchester City Council due to it not fitting the scale or character of the streetscape.
Any idea roughly what this kind of land goes for? Are we talking hundreds of thousands? More than a million pounds?
