Bruntwood SciTech commits £3m to Alderley Park amenities

The Mereside building’s atrium will benefit from an overhaul triggered by the joint venture between Bruntwood, L&G and Greater Manchester Pension Fund.

Bruntwood SciTech said the project will see the 25,400 sq ft atrium’s arrival experience, shared areas and hospitality facilities reimagined, reaffirming Mereside’s position as the heart of the Alderley Park campus.

The job will include new seating and breakout areas added throughout, with biophilic elements incorporated and the F&B offer improved.

Professionals contributing to the project include Bridge Architects, Amspec, Luke Artin, MForm, Booth King and Kaizen Consulting Engineers.

Work are inked in to start on Monday 9 March, completing by the end of this year.

New workspace facilities are being developed within the atrium’s overall footprint, with 8,000 sq ft of existing space being reconfigured to provide four workspace suites benefitting from exclusive outdoor terraces overlooking Radnor Mere.

Alderley Park as a whole provides more than 1m sq ft of lab and office space, with more than 250 businesses present. Its Mereside building has around 35,900 sq ft available, according to a listing from agent Colliers.

The redevelopment of the Mereside atrium follows the opening of neighbouring Apiary, an events and conference centre providing 6,000 sq ft of event and meeting space operated by Fork & Field Catering. Local fine food and wine store Grantham’s has also announced it will be moving to the site, providing a deli, coffee shop and fine dining area due to open in spring.

Mark Julian, associate director at Bruntwood SciTech, said: “Mereside is the beating heart of Alderley Park, and this investment is about making sure it works harder for the 4,000 people who use the campus every day. Through these changes, we’re adding even more of the elements that make the Park such a brilliant place for businesses to be based at – more flexibility, better spaces to collaborate and places that genuinely support how modern businesses work.”
