Bruntwood director named CityCo chairman
Kate Vokes, marketing and HR director at Bruntwood, has been appointed as the chairman of Manchester city centre management company CityCo.
Vokes joined the CityCo board earlier this year and will chair the independent, not-for-profit membership organisation over a two year term.
Vokes will work to deliver CityCo's commitment to the evolution and future growth of Manchester city centre and the individual businesses the organisation represents.
Vokes joined her family business, Bruntwood, in 2000. As a trustee of the Oglesby Charitable Trust, she plays a hands-on role in the family's charitable activity and was founding chairman of the Factory Youth Zone in North Manchester.
CityCo connects businesses with each other and public agencies, aims to bring together people, ideas and energy to make Manchester city centre a better place to work, visit and live. Its 100-strong membership has 24/7 operational and security support, networking and introductions to key contacts, involvement in city centre events and projects, connection to the PA Network and services from CityCo's Business Crime Reduction Partnership.
Vokes said: "As a family our approach to life is not to sit on the sidelines, we like to get involved and take responsibility. CityCo's work fits naturally with Bruntwood's desire to create places for business success. Building partnerships and relationships is a fundamental way we both work. Whilst being a property company we have a wide range of customers and suppliers across Manchester whose success is influenced by the success of the city."
