Browns to build Time and Tide’s Gravity tower
Lancashire developer Time and Tide has awarded the contract to build its 35-storey Gravity tower in Manchester to Browns Construction.
Cheadle-based Browns beat an undisclosed shortlist of three other contract firms to win the job.
Gravity, to be situated on Store Street in Ancoats, will contain 373 flats and 17,500 sq ft of office and retail space. A smaller, six-storey block will sit alongside the tower. Both buildings will face onto a new public park.
The scheme will be the biggest to date for both Time and Tide, based in Lancaster, and Browns. Construction is expected to start in March next year. The first phase will be released for sale next summer and the project is due for completion in late 2010.
