Breck latest to take a run at Salford pub site
The housebuilder is the third firm to try its hand at redeveloping a two-acre site off Green Lane and Liverpool Road in Cadishead in recent years.
Breck Homes has lodged plans for 49 homes on the site of the former Lion Pub, which will be handed over to registered provider ForHousing on completion.
The scheme features 19 houses and 30 apartments, all of which would be affordable.
The submission of plans comes less than a year since McCarthy Stone was refused consent for a 51-apartment retirement scheme that Salford City Council’s planners deemed “overbearing and oppressive”.
McCarthy Stone had picked up the site following the collapse of Lane End Developments in 2023, which had secured consent for 58 apartments two years earlier.
Breck told Place North West it had worked to address the concerns from previous projects on the site.
Andy Garnett, director at Breck said: “This development will be an important part of fulfilling the growing need for affordable housing in the Cadishead area and takes into consideration the concerns of the council regarding the previously proposed schemes.
“Among this is the introduction of new public space, trees and we have also ensured there is adequate parking for all residents to minimise the development’s impact on neighbouring streets.”
