Booth King launches first Manchester office

The structural and civil engineering company, which is headquartered in Bury, has opened an office in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, led by director Raj Takhar.

The company has taken space at Planetree House for five engineers, and appointed Takhar earlier this month to establish the office.

Takhar was discipline lead at Canadian firm Stantec, where he led a team of more than 100 engineers.

Prior to his role at Stantec, he was worked in the Manchester offices of Buro Happold and Ramboll. He also spent a period of time as a senior engineer at Booth King.

Booth King was founded in Lancashire in 1969.

Takhar said: “It’s great to be back at Booth King and at such an exciting time. Having worked at a number of other companies, it’s exciting to get back to such a pure engineering-led practice.”

Mark Moppett, managing director, said: “Having a director of Raj’s calibre joining Booth King is fantastic testament to where we have come. We are working on some truly impressive projects in the region including Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre at the Royal Oldham Hospital, the Water Street scheme with developer Renaker and Stubbs Mill working with Urban Splash.”
