Bolton approves new home for Halliwell school

Olive Primary School will relocate from its temporary site at Ashton House on Waterloo Street to a purpose-built 22,000 sq ft facility off Darley Street.

Bolton Council yesterday approved proposals from the Department for Education for the redevelopment of the former Jubilee Day Centre site in Halliwell into a 420-pupil primary school.

The council owns the plot and, working with DfT, identified it as a suitable site for a permanent home for Olive Primary School in 2019.

Delivery of the new school was facilitated by the relocation of the Jubilee Centre to the former Firswood School site, on Crompton Way.

Work on the new Jubilee Centre, designed by Pozzoni, began last March and is due to complete soon.

The three-storey Olive Primary School will be operated as part of the Star Academies Trust.

Cushman & Wakefield advised the DfT on planning.
