Bloor sets sights on South Weaverham to plug 5,000-home shortfall

A 130-acre site south of the Cheshire village between Hartford and Acton Bridge stations is earmarked for a 1,100-home neighbourhood.

Bloor Homes is consulting on plans to deliver more than 1,000 homes in South Weaverham, located west of Northwich, of which 45% would be affordable.

The developer says the scheme would help Cheshire West and Chester Council meet a need for 5,000 homes in the area. Bloor added that the site benefits from a “permanent physical barrier” in the shape of the London Northwestern railway line, which would create a “logical, defensible boundary that contains the settlement, preventing urban sprawl”.

Toby Hudson, strategic land director at Bloor Homes said: “This is a great opportunity to respond to Cheshire West and Chester’s housing need with more than 45% affordable homes.

“Weaverham South is a sustainable location for a landscape-led community, close to existing amenities in an area identified by the council for new homes.”

He added: “We’re at an early stage of shaping the plans and we’ll be launching a public consultation later this year. We look forward to sharing more details and hearing what people think.”

Planit is advising Bloor on the plans.

Ive got no issue with the new homes, but if this goes ahead then Bloor need to include the link from the A49 roundabout to Wallerscote Road, which was included in the last Northwich transport plan

I am totally against the idea of building where the woods are. This is a great benefit to Weaverham providing wildlife and local walks. There are also other plans to build houses around Weaverham.

Fantastic that these houses could be built close to existing amenities, thus absolving Bloor of any kind of responsibility for creating space for any. Those same amenities already overwhelmed by the new development of Winnington village which sees a lot of homeowners escape the poorly designed site to use the outdated and un maintained shops at Weaverham. Given it’s un adopted shop access that the council refuse to have anything to do with, it’s great that they aren’t thinking about making that situation any worse by building 1100 houses on land currently being used for agriculture.
Thanks for the impending feeling of doom surrounding my community.

Not enough amenities for that many new builds. Roads cant cope with traffic now, nevermind with 1000s more vehicles.

From the 1980’s Northwich town centre has had wait for it? 1.5 miles of extra major road to deal with in excess of at least 10,000 new houses from the greater northwich urban area. nearly Every district is on victorian road networks! the town needs at least two new bypasses 1) for weaverham going to the A49 and the other from the centre to Winnington village. plus the new winnington bridge.

Could be good for the local economy jobs being created as long as the infrastructure is thought sensibly and minimums disruption to local communities

Population is decreasing so why are all these new homes required

More cars then, more potholes ,more waiting list! No woodland walks! ‘What a joke!

Supposedly there is a water shortage. 1000’s more homes will need water for bathrooms, washing and cooking, nevermind the actual building of the homes. Then there’s the wildlife. What happens to all the beautiful animals? The roads cant cope with the vehicles now, there will be too many vehicles and the roads aren’t being repaired.

The Government is absolutely crazy and I just no wondered what matter with government.

Absolute disgrace!
It’s just going to become a concrete jungle just like everywhere else! No more fresh air and beautiful open countryside, what about all the wildlife what about current residents? This government doesn’t care all they care about is money!!!
