Bloor secures permission for 170 Wigan homes
Land off Crab Tree Lane is to be developed as part of the housebuilders’ wider masterplan for Atherton.
Wigan Council’s planning committee approved the reserved matters application at their meeting this week after granting consent four years ago for up to 830 homes on a wider land parcel located to the west of Bee Fold Lane and East of Millers Lane.
The plans had been recommended for approval.
This Crab Tree Lane represents phase two of the scheme, with Bloor Homes delivering phase one which was granted reserved matters consent in February 2022 for 120 homes at Bee Fold Lane.
This tranche of 170 homes on primarily agricultural land will comprise of 73 three-bedroom and 97 four-bedroom houses.
Access to the site is to be taken via Crab Tree Lane and properties will benefit from off-road parking.
Landowner Tarleton Estates was granted outline planning permission for the 76-acre scheme in September 2020, before selecting Bloor Homes to deliver the houses in February 2021.
Pegasus Group is the planning consultant for the Crab Tree Lane scheme, while Turley Design drew up the wider masterplan.
