Biffa sublets 208,000 sq ft in Trafford for second time

Third party logistics provider Kammac will take over the L&G-owned unit after the previous sublease to Bidvest expired.

The 208,000 sq ft unit is located at Fraser Place within Electric Park at Manchester’s Trafford Park industrial estate.

Fraser Place is located at the Europa Gate roundabout in the heart of the park. Nearby occupiers include L’Oreal, Associated British Foods, Adidas and Amazon.

Biffa signed a 20-year lease on the unit in 2009. However, in 2013, the company instructed Savills to find an occupier for the unit after ending operations at the site.

Two years later, Bidvest, a logistical and supply chain solutions provider which specialises in the hospitality and restaurant sector, signed a seven-year sublease for the warehouse, at an annual rent of £988,000.

That lease has now expired, paving the way for Kammac’s arrival.

Savills represented Biffa on the deal.

Jonathan Atherton, industrial and logistics director at Savills Manchester, said: “To complete this sub-lease on the day of expiry shows how fast-paced the industrial market is in the North West at the moment.

“Units such as Fraser Place, with quality warehousing and office facilities in a highly desirable location, remain in high demand and we expect this to continue well into next year.”
