Bethell Group appoints commercial director amid growth
Tom Ashall has been appointed to the civil engineering group as commercial director of its utility services division Bethell Utility Services as part of an expansion due to its framework wins last year.
Ashall joined the company this month from his role as a commercial manager at waste management company Viridor.
The Manchester-based company looks to expand its workforce up to 30% due to its wins with utility companies, local authorities, and other infrastructure clients, and from re-entering the multi-utility connections industry.
It is currently working on highways frameworks with local authorities including Blackpool Council, Cumbria County Council, Oldham Council, Liverpool City Council, Bolton Council, and Manchester City Council.
Bethell is now anticipating its turnover to increase from £30m in 2019 to £50m in 2020. In order to deliver this growth, Bethell is expanding its workforce. The recruitment campaign is targeting 75 additional staff by the end of the year.
Senior hires are set to include a senior IT manager, senior operational managers within its Utility Services business.
The 90-strong company is based in 15,000 sq ft of offices at Europa Trading Estate in Kearsley, outskirts of Bolton
Bethell has also moved into 1,000 sq ft of offices at Manchester Airport in order to increased civil engineering work at Manchester Aiport, and seeks further expansion in Yorkshire.
It is on the lookout for senior operational manager positions as part of its planned expansion.
