Berkeley Shaw expands into Cheshire

The Liverpool-based property consultancy has acquired Adams Estate Agents, which has branches in Widnes, Runcorn and Warrington, after it successfully presided over the managing director’s house move.

Berkeley Shaw Real Estate has added the Cheshire practice to its growing group having recently acquired Maghull-based Ian Crane Estate Agents.

The deal, which will see Adams rebrand as Adams Real Estate, came about after Berkeley Shaw managing director John Baybut was impressed by his personal experience with the practice.

“I got to know the Adams team well because they have just handled both the sale of my existing home and the acquisition of my new one, so I experienced their professionalism first-hand,” he explained.

“Of course, extending our geographic reach on my personal doorstep was an attraction, but so was their independent ethos and can-do attitude.”

The business will provide block management services as well as lettings and sales advice.

“Joining Adams with Berkeley Shaw means we can introduce block management, surveying, and commercial property management to Cheshire whilst opening wider career opportunities for our current and new colleagues alike,” Baybut added.

Berkeley Shaw’s acquisition of Adams Estate Agents, which was founded in the 1990s, will see 25 colleagues transfer into the business, taking its headcount beyond the 60 mark.

Adams’ managing director Damian Morris-Adams said the deal was a good fit.

“It was important that Adams Estate Agents continued under the leadership of someone who shares our values, principles, and commitment to exceptional service,” he said. “I am immensely proud of what we have achieved over the years and am grateful to my colleagues, our clients and partners who have supported us.”

Morris-Adams will exit the business following the deal, which was brokered by Atomic Consultancy.
