Bellway plots summer start on Prestwich homes

Construction is to begin on the housebuilder’s 124-home scheme off George Street in North Manchester this summer after it secured reserved matters approval last December.

The scheme includes a mix of three- and four-bedroom units, both semi-detached and detached.

As part of the proposals, Bellway agreed to contribute a £354,000 contribution towards recreation and affordable housing.

Bellway acquired the 11-acre site, formerly part of the Mount Heath Industrial Estate, from a joint venture between Euro Property Investments and Aurora Property Company in 2019 for an undisclosed sum.

Euro and Aurora secured outline planning approval in February 2017 for the demolition of industrial warehouses on the site, and the development of up to 160 homes and 32,000 sq ft of employment space.

An additional application was submitted to vary conditions so that the houses and the employment space could be delivered separately.

Euro and Aurora secured reserved matters approval on architect Den Designs’ proposals for the employment element in the form of an industrial scheme on the site at the beginning of 2019.

Lynne Duxbury, sales manager at Bellway, said: “Prestwich is a hugely desirable residential area. The plans for The Mount look superb and we are looking forward to getting started on site in the summer.”
