Beech fleshes out next phase of Trafford homes 

Blocks rising to 15 storeys and featuring 360 apartments are to be constructed on a plot next to the developer’s Westpoint scheme on Chester Road, subject to approval by the council. 

In February, Beech Holdings applied to demolish the multistorey car park and filling station on the Chester Road plot to pave the way for its redevelopment. 

Seven months on, the scheme has been developed further ahead of the submission of a full planning application.  

As well as 360 homes, the project would feature underground parking beneath a communal central green space, a gym, and a residents lounge. 

The scheme is Beech’s third project in the area. The developer acquired the 100,000 sq ft Westpoint office building from Marcol in 2016, which it converted into 317 co-living-style apartments.  

Beech also owns and operates Academy Apartments on Warwick Road. 

Stephen Beech, chief executive of Beech Holdings, said: “This site neighbours two of our most successful and consistently 100% tenanted residential buildings, both demonstrating high demand for quality homes in the area.” 

“The proposals will bring significant benefits for the site and surroundings, not least the redevelopment of a long-term vacant and derelict site with a high-quality, highly sustainable residential scheme that will transform this section of Chester Road. Importantly, it will have a positive impact on the character and appearance of the adjacent Empress Conservation Area.” 

A planning application is expected by December. Paul Butler Associates is advising Beech on the proposals.
