BCSC returns to Manchester

Around 2,500 retail property business men and women will descend on Manchester next week for the annual conference and exhibition of the British Council of Shopping Centres.

BCSC 2010 takes place at Bridgewater Hall and Manchester Central from Monday 1 to Wednesday 3 November. It is the largest retail trade show in the UK this year. The 2009 event was also held in Manchester, which has become a favoured venue for the BCSC over the past decade.

The delegates and businesses attending are set to inject over £1m into the city's economy over the three-day event. Delegates will range from retailers, the major supermarkets and retail property investors to public sector managers and major retail property owners and developers.

Speakers at the conference will include Simon Hayes, chief economist at Barclays Capital, Phil Wrigley, chairman of Majestic Wine and Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council. Local exhibitors include retail agency Tushingham Moore, Shoppertainment Management and Oldham Council.

Michael Green, chief executive of BCSC, said: "We are delighted to be returning to Manchester once again for this year's conference and exhibition and it is fantastic to be supported by so many local businesses from both the public and private sectors. We are looking forward to an action packed conference programme with leading speakers from across the retail property industry, and to welcoming thousands of the industry's representatives to Manchester's fantastic conference venue."

The event sponsors are Davis Langdon, DTZ, Gardiner & Theobald, Standard Life Investments, the Co-operative Food Property and Westfield.
