BBC’s Inside Out turns spotlight on Peel Holdings
The current affairs TV programme Inside Out is currently researching a film into the power of transport and property giant Peel Holdings.
The show is being made to coincide with the tenth anniversary of the opening of Peel's 1.4m sq ft Trafford Centre shopping mall in September.
Peel is helping with the making of the film and is due to meet with the Inside Out team, based in Manchester, later this week.
The scope of the show will be a broad-ranging look at the size and scale of the group's activities, from the Port of Liverpool, Manchester Ship Canal, Wirral and Liverpool Waters, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Port of Salford, Salford Quays, Media City and beyond.
Peel, controlled by Bury-born billionaire John Whittaker, owns 28,000 acres and 9m sq ft of premises.
The BBC programme will also raise questions about Peel's political influence, examining its anti-congestion charge stance and often outspoken approach.
