Bardsley wins £10m affordable housing work
Bardsley Construction has strengthened its presence in the provision of affordable housing schemes throughout the North West by winning three contracts with a total value of £10m.
The Dukinfield-based family business will provide affordable housing units for Places for People in Blackburn, Halton Housing Trust in Runcorn and Adactus Housing in Chorley.
The project for Places for People is valued at £4m and involves the design and construction of 36 two and three-bed family homes and two special needs bungalows with associated external works at Newfield and Foss, Blackburn. Work starts on site in April 2016 with completion due in May 2017. The architect on the scheme is Arcus Manchester with civil engineering expertise provided by Curtins Liverpool.
Halton Housing Trust appointed Bardsley to a £4m scheme to design and construct 21 two and three-bed family houses and 21 two-bed flats with new access road, landscaping and parking at Pine Road, Runcorn. This project was secured via Bardsley’s presence on the ICNW Framework with work starting on site in April and completion due in May 2017. PRP Manchester is the architect with structural and civil engineering provided by Alan Johnson Partnership Liverpool.
The contract with Adactus Housing is valued at £2m and includes the demolition of a former fire station at Weldbank Lane, Chorley, Lancs and the design and construction of 12 two-bed houses and six one-bed apartments. This scheme was also procured through the ICNW Framework with work again starting on site in April and set for completion in May 2017. Architect is Halsall Lloyd Partnership, Liverpool with Sutcliffes Projects Liverpool providing structural and civil engineering.
This trio of contract wins follows the recent appointment of Bardsley to two framework agreements for the provision of affordable housing, specialist care facilities and public buildings throughout the North of England and the Midlands.
The firm was appointed to Lot 3 of the Re:Allies framework for all works worth in excess of £2m and with a projected spend of £384m over four years for the delivery of affordable housing and public buildings across the North West, Yorkshire and the north Midlands.
Re:Allies is a partnership of housing consortia in Manchester, Rotherham and Birmingham striving to be recognised as the first choice in social housing procurement by delivering social and commercial value to registered social housing providers, communities and local economies.
The second framework agreement saw Bardsley appointed by The Abbeyfield Society, a national charity based in St Albans, Hertfordshire that provides housing, support and care for people in later life, to Lot 2 North of its framework to deliver schemes worth more than £8m with a projected spend of about £100m nationwide.
