Bardsley and Forshaw complete New Cross apartments

Developer Forshaw and contractor Bardsley are set to complete at Halo, a sold-out six-storey apartment block on Simpson Street in New Cross, Manchester.

Bardsley has been working on the build on the 66-apartment scheme which features flats of one, two, and three beds, along with a basement car park.

The Tameside-based contractor was chosen by Forshaw to deliver the project in January 2017 on a two-stage tender with work starting in March that year; the scheme will be handed to buyers in the New Year.

All of the apartments have been sold, with two-beds priced at £210,000. The professional team on the project included AA Projects; architect DLA Design; and structural engineer Edge Structural Design.

Ged Rooney, pre-construction director at Bardsley Construction, said: “Bardsley is an increasingly active provider of high-quality residential accommodation throughout central Manchester, with our construction of Halo helping the city council to deliver on its strategy to address rising demand for city centre living”.

Bardsley has also recently completed The Astley in Ancoats for developer Mulbury and funder M&G. Designed by Tim Groom Architects, this features 135 apartments in a brick-clad block on Great Ancoats Street.

The contractor has started on site at MeadowSide for developer FEC, where it is delivering the 12-storey Mount Yard, which includes 136 one, two, and three-bed apartments. This building forms the first phase of a wider £200m development.

Other Bardsley projects currently on site include Mulbury’s second private rented development in the city, a £30m project on the corner of Blossom Street and Great Ancoats Street.

Also designed by Tim Groom Architects, the Blossom Street scheme is due to complete in May 2019.
