Barbour ABI appoints managing director

David Buckley has replaced Simon Mahoney in the leadership role at the construction intelligence provider.

Based in Ellesmere Port, Barbour ABI was founded in 2001 to offer customers a range of solutions in sectors including construction, automotive, industry, insurance and finance, logistics, and the public sector.

Mahoney led Barbour ABI for 25 years and is now pursuing another yet-to-be-revealed opportunity. Speaking of the company’s future, he said: “The company is perfectly positioned to support construction businesses in their use of smart data moving forwards.

“I look forward to seeing the group building on these strong foundations and going from strength to strength”.

Buckley joins Barbour ABI from his previous role as commercial director at Kantar, an insight and consultancy business. He led the firm’s UK and USA Worldpanel division from January 2018, having joined in 2010 as UK board director.

In his new role as managing director, Buckley will oversee the company’s team of 150 industry experts.

With more than 20 years of experience under his belt, Buckley will also be responsible for setting the next phase of Barbour’s strategy as the company grows and develops industry partnerships.

This change in leadership comes within the same month that Barbour ABI has announced its exclusive partnership with Planning Portal, meaning customers have instant access to application data.

Buckley stated: “I’m excited to be leading the Barbour ABI group, a market leader in the UK, at a time when we are step-changing our offer to pre-empt the diverse demand for insights and intelligence within the built environment.”
