Bar owner to open third NQ venue in same block

Manchester bar operator Noho has taken the final remaining leisure unit at Sevendale House in the Northern Quarter, to take the number of their venues in the building to three.

Sevendale House owner Philip J Davies Holdings agreed a 10-year lease on the 4,575 sq ft basement unit with NoHo, owned by Simon Ching and Rebecca Race, who also run NoHo and Dusk til Pawn at Sevendale, as well as Wood & Co on South King Street.

Cooper Hall will open this winter, as a European Beer Hall, offering beers from the Continent, craft ales, wines and cocktails.

Completed in September 2014, the renovation of the 120,000 sq ft Sevendale House attracted office occupiers Ticketmaster, Urbanbubble, Code Computerlove, Liquid Personnel and Foundation Coffee on the ground floor.

Mark Davies, director of Philip J Davies Holdings, said: “Simon and Rebecca have been tenants for over eight years, both NoHo and Dusk til Pawn have been extremely successful and it makes perfect sense to continue our relationship with them. The name Cooper Hall ties in beautifully with the history of the building, which was built as a trade warehouse for I.J. & G Cooper Ltd in 1903. Since the refurbishment of the building in 2014, we’ve had an incredible response to both the commercial and leisure space available. While we have had considerable interest in the basement unit formerly occupied by Copacabana I wanted to wait until we found the right tenant and I’m confident Cooper Hall will be a great addition to the building.”

Noho’s Simon Ching said: “We’ve built up a loyal following at both NoHo and Dusk til Pawn over the years and when the basement of Sevendale House became available, we were keen to take the space and develop a new concept which would sit seamlessly alongside our other venues.

“We’ve tried to weave some of the history of this building into the concept, while also bringing a lot of European influences into the space. We’ll have a fantastic range of beers, alongside a wine menu and cocktail list and believe Cooper Hall will be popular with the after work crowd during the week and those socialising in the Northern Quarter at the weekend.”
