Avison Young boosts Manchester team

Shola Oso has joined the commercial real estate firm as a senior surveyor, bolstering Avison Young’s management team to cope with an “influx of mixed-use development projects”.

Having also previously worked for CBRE and Savills as an intern, Oso most recently worked for Matalan Retail as part of the company’s in-house property team, and was responsible for managing its retail and distribution portfolio.

Oso has joined a team of 20, made up of eight surveyors and 12 facilities managers, at Avison Young’s Norfolk Street office.

She will work with clients including the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund, part of the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, and Manchester City Council.

Emma Berry, director of the real estate management team, said: “This is a challenging time for many businesses, including our own.

“We are fortunate to have a healthy portfolio of instructions in the region and aspire to expand this. We want to remain agile to respond to the evolving needs of our clients.

In addition to Oso’s appointment, Jay Rutter, who was formerly a senior surveyor in the team, has been promoted to associate.

In the UK, Avison Young’s real estate management team currently has £20bn of assets, including offices, business parks, industrial and logistics and retail, under management, employing over 250 people across 13 offices.
