Ask secures first retail tenant at Embankment
Sainsbury’s has signed up at the Embankment scheme in Salford.
The 2,850 sq ft convenience store will open on the ground floor of 101 Embankment by the end of the year after signing a 15-year lease.
101 Embankment is due for practical completion in October, while neighbouring sister office building 100 Embankment was granted detailed planning consent by Salford City Council last month.
The schemes at Greengate, close to Manchester Cathedral and Victoria Station, are a product of a joint venture partnership between Ask Real Estate, Carillion and Tristan Capital Partners.
Leon Guyett, development director at Ask Real Estate, said: “Sainsbury’s will provide an essential offering for the occupiers of our Embankment office together with the surrounding workforce and ever growing residential population in the immediate vicinity.”
He added: “The remaining retail unit on Chapel Street comprising 1,600 sq ft is also attracting a good level of interest.”
101 Embankment will provide 165,000 sq ft and 100 Embankment will offer 166,000 sq ft of office space over eight floors, with the buildings offering large column-free floor-plates of around 20,000 sq ft.
A 442-space car park beneath the two buildings, pre-let to Q-Park, will be operational when 101 is finished.
