Architects swapped on five-star Iliad hotel
Manchester-based architects Leach Rhodes Walker has walked away from Iliad's conversion of an ornate Victorian building on Sir Thomas Street, Liverpool, to be replaced by local firm Falconer Chester Hall.
Work is well under way on the project to deliver a five-star hotel along plans drawn up by LRW. FCH has been brought in as project architect to see the development through.
The move follows a review of its work by LRW after buying itself back from collapsed property services group Erinaceous in April.
The hotel conversion attracted criticism in summer 2007 when ornate stonework above the doors was demolished. Iliad said it had done nothing wrong and was working with full planning consent. English Heritage later ordered an audit of historical buildings in the city.
