Anwyl names two directors
Oliver Johnston and Gareth Haslam have been promoted to commercial director and technical director, respectively, at the Flintshire-headquartered housebuilder.
Johnston joined Anwyl Homes’ Cheshire and North Wales division last year as its head of commercial for Cheshire and North Wales. His resume includes roles at the Royal Military Police and Taylor Wimpey.
Reflecting on his promotion to commercial director, Johnston said: “My primary focus is to drive commercial efficiency and quality across our projects, ensuring we meet growth targets while maintaining our commitment to high standards.
“We’re positioned strongly in the land market, and a key priority will be delivering on our upcoming developments in 2025, with robust systems in place to manage build costs and material availability effectively.”
Haslam has been with Anwyl since 2020, having joined as a design manager and risen in the ranks to head of technical at the start of this year. Prior to that, he worked for Miller Homes. Haslam has also been employed by MCI Developments, Persimmon Homes, and Bellway in the past.
“I’m excited to take on the challenge of leading the technical department, working with a strong team of people with a breadth of both engineering and architectural design talent,” Haslam said.
“Our main priority is bringing new sites through the planning system, which has its challenges both in England and Wales, but we are well placed to meet those. We have built strong relationships with local authorities, backed by the quality of the Anwyl product, which has outstanding kerb appeal.”
Both Haslam and Johnston will be based out of Anwyl’s Ewloe headquarters.
Tom Grundy, managing director for Anwyl Homes’ Cheshire and North Wales division, described why he chose to promote the duo to director roles.
“Last year, 50 of our colleagues successfully completed development, coaching, and leadership programmes, including Oliver and Gareth, which has been invaluable in supporting them to take the next step in their careers,” he said.
Grundy added: “Oliver and Gareth are both established and committed members of the team and they each bring a wealth of experience to their new roles as directors.
“I look forward to working with them both as we push on towards meeting our growth targets and increasing the number of homes we build each year by 50%.”
In addition to Johnston and Haslam, other promotions at Anwyl include Aled Roberts and Mitch Andrews becoming managing quantity surveyors and Hannah Edwards becoming an architectural technician. Gareth Rogers was named utilities manager and Craig Ogden was appointed evelopment engineer.
Current projects for Anwyl in the Cheshire and North Wales area include 153 homes at Omega South in Warrington, 152 homes in Penrhyn Bay, and 153 homes in New Brighton.
