Anwyl and Unite maintain student surge

Hundreds of student flats are set to be approved at next week’s Liverpool planning committee meeting in the next wave of student accommodation development.

Unite is planning two towers at Lime Street and Skelhorne Street, of 19 and 16 floors. There will be 212 bedrooms. Planning officers have recommended it for approval.

Rhyl-based Anwyl Construction is planning 430 student flats in 15 floors on the former National Express coach station in Norton Street, Islington, following the coach operator’s relocation to Liverpool ONE bus station. This is also recommended for approval.

The Unite flats will hopefully disguise the terrible eye-sore development they built previously, at least these look better in the illustration. I hope the materials will be decent quality. It’s set back from where the old Concourse House stood anyway, and soon we’ll have new buildings next door on Bolton Street, part of new Lime Street…
