Altrincham-based FK Group goes bust
The building envelope specialist, alongside subsidiaries FK Construction and FK Facades, has filed a notice of intent to appoint administrators, according to court documents.
FK Group is headquartered in Altrincham, with offices in Doncaster and Birmingham. Its subsidiaries Premo and FK Resolv are understood to be unimpacted by the administrative filings.
Recently, FK Group was working on Manchester City FC’s North Stand at Etihad Stadium with main contractor Sisk.
The firm’s latest account filing on Companies House – for the year ending 31 March 2024, showed an operating loss of £5.3m for FK Group.
The same year, FK Construction reported a £6.5m loss after taxes. The company had earned £86m the year prior.
FK Facades, however, appeared to be bouncing back with a profit of £806,000 – up from a loss of £138,700 for the year before.
All three companies are overdue on their financial records for 2024/2025, according to Companies House.
Building Safety Act-related delays, inflation, and a claim from ISG’s administrators were cited as reasons for FK Group’s collapse by the Construction Enquirer. Law firm Bermans is representing the three companies in their administration cases, according to data from Caseboard.io.
Founded in 1979, FK Group got its start as a roof contractor. The company’s past work includes The Spine in Liverpool, Etihad South Stand’s expansion, Manchester Cancer Research Hospital, Market Place Bolton, the new Main Stand at Anfield, No2 St Peters in Manchester, and Victoria Hospital Blackpool.
Bermans, Manchester City FC, and FK Group were all contacted for comment.
