Altrincham adds 8,000 sq ft of retail
Two tenants have signed up to occupy the ground floor units of the Everyman cinema complex on George Street on 10- and 15-year leases.
Altrincham Regeneration owns the 20,000 sq ft Everyman complex, which opened in 2018. Under the latest deals, Homebird Interiors will occupy 3,575 sq ft at 82-84 George Street for 10 years, relocating from its current premises on Stamford New Road.
Meanwhile, a new gym, Strength Collective, has signed to occupy 4,760 sq ft at 74-80 George Street on a 15-year lease – its debut outlet.
Altrincham has proved a successful location for Homebird, which sells an eclectic mix of stylish sofas, furniture and home accessories, the retailer said. It has other shops in Wilmslow, Cheadle Hulme and Heswall.
Homebird’s co-founder Miri Templeton said: “Having more space allows us to display our beautiful ranges to their full potential giving our customers a great choice and the ability to visualise our products as they would look in their own homes.”
And Dana Huggins, co-owner of Strength Collective, added: “Our primary aim is to help people discover their own potential and build a healthier life in every aspect. We provide the same outstanding level of service to every member from athlete, to the first-time gym goer.
“We aren’t just a gym or a personal training facility, we are a collective with passion for community within our industry, and we welcome everyone.”
Retail has been among the hardest hit industries during the Covid pandemic and these units – like many others across Greater Manchester and the wider UK – have taken some time to let, according to Daniel Lee, managing director of Regional Property Solutions, which manages the Everyman complex on behalf of Altrincham Regeneration.
“But as Covid restrictions eased, we had some positive enquiries and these lettings reflect the growing demand for suburban outlets in affluent market towns,” he noted.
