Alliance’s £50m Uptown faces partial rebuild
Part of the concrete core of Property Alliance Group’s Uptown Manchester development off Trinity Way in Salford is being demolished due to “engineering issues”.
A statement from the developer said: “Our project team has identified engineering issues at Uptown, so our priority is to rectify these as safely and efficiently as possible.
“This will require partial demolition of the development. We anticipate this work will take around two weeks and is being carried out by a specialist company that is now on site. In the meantime, the off-site element of the construction programme will continue.”
Demolition firm PP O’Connor is on site carrying out the partial demolition, which concerns the concrete core of the first of the project’s three proposed blocks. The project team for the 156-apartment Uptown Manchester includes FK Group as lead contractor and Ball & Berry as site inspector.
Architect ShedKM designed the project.
The development is located opposite Anaconda Cut, Salford’s tallest building, next to the River Irwell.
Alliance’s statement continued: “This is an unfortunate situation, but we would like to reassure the local community that the site is safe and we are doing everything we can to minimise any potential disruption.
“We will ensure residents are kept informed throughout the works and members of our team are available to address any queries or concerns.”
PAG said it was confident the issues could be resolved quickly without significant delay but that it was too early to confirm how the setback would impact the construction programme.
The site is located next to Urban Splash’s modular townhouse development, Irwell Riverside, and Uptown also features a modular component.
