Alliance buys Northern Foods bakery

Property Alliance Group has acquired the prominent Trafford Park Bakery site from a subsidiary of Northern Foods for an undisclosed sum.

The coveted site fronts Ashburton Road West, one of the main roads through Trafford Park, and is opposite Property Alliance Group's own headquarters.

The site comprises 195,000 sq ft on 8.5 acres, including 30,000 sq ft of office space on three floors with associated canteen facility; a 130,000 sq ft warehouse and a detached 30,000 sq ft industrial unit. Property Alliance Group is currently finalising its intentions for the site.

Northern Foods acquired the bakery, which made pies, quiches and sausage rolls for Tesco, in 1991, and announced its closure last year.

Oliver Moorhouse, industrial manager at Alliance, said it was the company's sixth such off-market acquisition this year. He added: "We hope occupiers and agents alike recognise our expertise in dealing with sensitive and confidential sites off market. This latest deal and the acquisition of the former Eaton premises in particular, demonstrate our desire and ability to work with occupiers, providing flexible solutions to their changing business needs, whilst offering full value in an uncomplicated and proactive way.

"The Trafford Park Bakery acquisition is a great coup, not only due to its location adjacent to our headquarters but also for its size and profile in a prime industrial area."
