A&H Construction starts British Salt’s Cheshire shed
Stoford is developing the 184,000 sq ft Middlewich industrial unit, which will be used to store high-purity salt and sodium bicarbonate products.
West Midlands-based A&H Construction has been appointed as contractor to deliver the new British Salt warehouse, which is expected to be completed in August.
The industrial unit will enable the company to streamline its packaging and supply chain operations.
Owned by TATA Chemicals Group since 2011, British Salt has operated from its Middlewich home since 1967.
Last year, ICG agreed to forward fund the construction of the shed, designed by architect Webb Gray.
Stoford director Edward Peel said the scheme “provides a key example of [the company’s] ability to deliver occupier-led development”.
“We’re pleased to have started work on this new facility for British Salt. It’s strategically important for the business, which has outlined its ambitious plans to invest in the region,” he added.
Rachael Pittaway, associate director at ICG, said: “We are excited to work with Stoford and the iconic British Salt to build this best-in-class facility, and we look forward to collaborating together to find innovative solutions to further optimise and enhance the ESG credentials of the project.
“The crucial location of this site represents mission-critical investing at its purest, a strategic addition to our sale and leaseback fund.”
