Affordable homes underway in Great Lever

Tyson Construction has started on 16 new affordable homes in Great Lever in Bolton for Great Places Housing Group in a project designed by Paddock Johnson Partnership.

The development is split across two sites and will consist of eight two-bed properties and eight of three bedrooms.

Eric Johnson, director of Paddock Johnson Partnership, said: "The design embraces the typology of the local terraced blocks and features large openings and contrasting brickwork around recessed entrances, as a reference to the heavily embellished entrance doors of Victorian architecture."

Off-site works associated with the development will see 50 new trees planted on parkland adjacent and throughout the local area, underpinning Great Places' social and environmental commitment to the neighbourhoods in which they seek to improve through regeneration.

The scheme forms part of the HCA's 2013-15 funding programme for affordable housing.
