Administrator sells former Time computers site
Grant Thornton has sold 2.9 acres of land formerly occupied by computer maker Granville Technologies at Time Technology Park in Simonstone, near Burnley, to developer Enza Property Group for in excess of £500,000.
The site forms part of the large commercial estate north of Blackburn Road near junction 8 of the M65. The Department of Work and Pensions currently leases the land for overspill car parking for its adjacent office unit.
Rob Yates, office agency director at DTZ, advising Grant Thornton, said: "We received a good level of interest for this opportunity which particularly appealed to certain developers, as the site benefits from short/medium term income whilst development proposals are appraised."
Grant Thornton was appointed as administrator following the collapse of Granville, which produced Time and Tiny personal computers, in 2005. It was the UK's largest PC manufacturer and its closure caused 1,500 jobs to be lost.
