Adhan Group buys Blackburn manufacturing plant
The recently vacated India Mill is the local investor’s latest acquisition.
Adhan Group has acquired the 5.5-acre former Graham & Brown’s manufacturing plant for an undisclosed sum.
The site is Furthergate Business Park, close to Junction 6 of the M65 and Blackburn town centre. The site will continue to operate as a manufacturing and distribution centre and Adhan is hopeful of securing a new tenant soon.
Chris Henderson, sales director at Adhan Group, said: “The addition of this central, self-contained site at the heart of Blackburn is a welcome addition to our portfolio.
“Rental interest is always strong for these types of sites, and we hope to have a new tenant in situ shortly with the site continuing to contribute significant employment to the locality.”
Wallpaper maker Graham & Brown announced its intention to sell India Mill in late 2023 as it moved to digitise its operations.
The £70m turnover company opened a new facility in Padiham last year.
Napthens solicitors and Trevor Dawson advised on the sale of Graham & Brown’s former home.
Trevor Dawson director Jason Rawson said: “We were delighted to assist our long-standing client, Graham and Brown, with their successful journey into the digital era by bringing forward the disposal of the 5.5-acre India Mill site to the Adhan Group.
“This is a strategic site for manufacturing and distribution in Blackburn which was reflected in the extensive interest we obtained from Investors, developers, owner occupiers and prospective tenants.
“We are pleased to have been retained as letting agents moving forward and can now offer the site as a whole or on a piecemeal basis to potential tenants on favourable terms.”
The acquisition is the latest in a string of buys for Adhan Group, which has recently added 4m sq ft of commercial space to its portfolio, including the 712,000 sq ft Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington.
