200 new homes for Knowsley
Outline planning permission has been granted for the development of up to 207 residential units in the green belt in Knowsley.
The application for the 20-acre site, which lies north of Kirkby, was made by planning consultant Gerald Eve on behalf of NV Assets and was unanimously approved by Knowsley Council subject to signing of section 106 agreements.
The site has been derelict since 1996 having previously been a golf driving range. It is classed as brownfield land within the green belt.
Development plans incorporate six-acres of open land for public use into the scheme, with a maximum of 204 residential units alongside.
Kirkby Council received 21 objections to the proposals, over issues including loss of views and green space, and concerns over the impact on the biodiversity at the site.
The site is expected to be sold on to house builders once the judicial review period expires.
