Victoria site earmarked for £150m development

Muse Developments and Network Rail are working up plans for a £150m scheme to be known as New Victoria, on a 2.5-acre site next to Manchester’s revamped Victoria station.

The 570,000 sq ft masterplan, which is being put together by architect Sheppard Robson, includes an eight-storey 150,000 sq ft office building and two residential buildings which will provide around 475 apartments.

The site at the top of Corporation Street will also have new public realm, landscaping and car parking, while restaurants, coffee shops and bars are planned for the ground floor areas.

The plot is owned by Network Rail.

A detailed planning application is being prepared for submission by the end of this year. The project has a completion date of 2021.

Victoria station is currently undergoing a £45m refurbishment which is being delivered by Network Rail and Transport for Greater Manchester. Works on the site are due to be complete by winter 2015.

JLL and GVA are agents on New Victoria.
