Developer wanted for Old St Mary’s Hospital

Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a property partner to bring forward the £50m redevelopment of Old St Mary's Hospital on Oxford Road, into office and laboratory space.

Old St Mary's sits on a 2.34-acre site and currently houses part of the Trust's Department of Reproductive Medicine, although the building is largely vacant.

According to tender documents, the property partner would be entering into an agreement to develop and operate the building on a long-term basis, as well as working with the Trust on a potential further £50m of pipeline projects.

The hospital's redevelopment would provide space for bio and medical technology companies.

Old St Mary's Hospital is part of the clinical and academic campus within the Oxford Road Corridor, which includes Citylabs 1.0, Bruntwood and Manchester Science Partnerships' 94,000 sq ft redevelopment of the Trust's former Royal Eye Hospital which opened in September 2014.

The deadline for receipt of tenders is 22 June at 5pm.

Mace Group is acting as consultant to the Trust during the procurement process.
